Is that not harmful to the momma stingray and the babies?

That is so cool thanks for posting

Woah awesome I didn't know stingrays were live bearers. Awesome, do they always give birth on land?

Thats Awesome..

Too bad he left the hook in the poor thing.

They only come out of the water when they are caught...
this one was on a fish line, with a hook in its mouth.

What Zig said. You want to observe it, fine...empty out a cooler or something, get some water, put her in and get the hook out. Observe and film, then return them to the water. (Maybe they did later and it's just not included in the vid.)

as is, it was painful to watch. Rather reminds me of that dreadful old movie "Orca" (which it is said was the performance that persuaded Richard Harris it was time for either him or his agent to give up drinking.) :)

(okay, they did return them. Still hard to watch the first part.)

somewhere in the world,
aquatic aliens will kidnap a human female in labour,
and forces her to give birth while they water board her.

thanks for sharing. but please, put a warning for animal cruelty up.

although it is neat to see, it is also cruel. if the guy was catching the ray for sport (catch & release) he should have put it back in the water right away, or at least put the babies in the water right away so that they didn't have to have their first moments full of stress. IMO, the momma ray might not live, she was looking pretty far gone when he flipped her back into the water.

It is interesting to see but she was probably aborting the babies because of the stress. It was likely a last ditch effort to save the next generation.........

It's sad that the mother will likely die due to the trauma.

What I find different about the birth is that they all came out tail first. It's odd because I thought their spine would puncture the mother on the way out but it's obvious that none did.
