air rocks?

It depends on the specifics of your tank. I don't believe they're needed in most cases. Generally, if you have surface movement from a filter or something, there will be plenty of oxygen exchange. If you don't have much surface movement and your tank is taller than it is wide, you may want some air stones to help out.

It also depends on the fish you keep. For example, some of my Goldfish tanks NEED an air stone in the aquarium or they would be pretty miserable. It does seem to help a lot in the summer time and with the higher temperatures. But in most cases, and air stone is just optional. Some people like them while others hate them. ;)
