Everything is growing well, and recently I did a major cutback in order to let more light reach the bottom of the tank and also to make it easier to see the fish. Now all I have is a tank full of low bushes comprised mostly of thatch-like aerial roots. It is impossible to cut out the roots without simultaneously mutilating the plants (Rotala Macandra, Wysteria, and Parrot's Feather). Is there any way to get these plants looking good again without starting all over?

I've recently had this problem with R. verticillaris. I use EI dosing so I'm not sure what nutrient my tank would be deficient in.

IME, when my Ludwigia Repens grow straight up, they keep their roots to themselves, but when they get knocked over, they grow roots all over. I've noticed if I cut them off, the plants don't die.
