Activ-flora Freshwater Substrate

I would like to know as well. I am using it but have no long term experience yet.
 
I've used it with little success. The "instant cycle" bacteria is bogus and my plants didn't do any better in it than growing in Turface... I only purchased it because the bag was torn so my LFS gave it to me for half off. Wouldn't purchase it again even at the half off price :\

I'm just using it as a fertilizer, will it work well as that?
don't care about the "instant cycle" crap or value (got it for $1.50 @ Petco).
 
to sum up what patrick.paul said in layman's terms... it's no better than a kitty litter substrate and you can't rely on it for ferts.

side note... any substrate you use for ferts will eventually run out anyway unless you're actively (at the very least) fertilizing the water column.
