Hi everyone! I'm new here and hope I've posted in the right place. I have a black 72 gallon bowfront, and I'm having a hard time finding a canopy/cap for it. My local pet store does not carry it, and are unable to tell me where to order one from. I've done internet searches, but 46 is the largest I've seen. can anyone help me? Please tell me where to get one to buy or if you have plans on how to have one built, it would be greatly appreciated

Hi - I'm in the same situation with a 90 bow-front. these were made by Oceanic (Aqueon). I believe you can still order them; check the Aqueon web site, then call their CSR and ask where to get one. I am building my own stand and canopy; basically I took a 2x10 and cut the curved rails from that to form the front skeleton. Next i cut a couple skinny nailers to make door frames, then i'll nail on tongue-n-groove wainscot panels which will follow the contour pretty well. Another way is to tack on 1/4" finish plywood.
If you watch the forums you'll see some for sale occasionally. also watch CL and ebay.

P.S. - I heard Aqueon is streamlining their product offering which is probably why you're not seeing these tank/stand combos as much any longer.

I have actually ran into the same problem but I had a 72 gallon bow front canopy and took it off the other day, dropped it and it broke. While it probably can be fixed, most of the hinges/screws are rusted & some of the wood is warped and rather buy a new one.

Anyone have any idea on where i could find them?

I looked at the catalog and they no longer make any canopies for the bow front aquariums only for standard rectangular aquariums. It looks like you will either have to have one made or look for a used one on Craig's list or even eBay for one.

A glass store could cut you one pretty easy. Just trace the exact pattern you want. They would make you 2 pieces, the opening front with the curve, and then the square/rectangle back.

Then you could use silicone to make your own hinge, or even buy a replacement hinge, and insert it between the 2 pieces of glass.

Oceanic was bought out by All-Glass a few years ago. Glass tops, canopies, and stands are still available for the 72 gallon bow front... but they only sell them to retailers. In order to get one, you have to have your LFS order it for you. Some will, some won't.
