29 gallon, significant plants, Penguin 150 + AC 30

Any thoughts? Too much fish in general? To few of one species, too many of another? Any compatibility issues?

Positives and negatives are welcome!

Thank you all!

Hmm... I don't know about the neons AND the embers AND the CPDs. The neons & embers won't school together... so it's a toss up - do you want one schooler & the looser shoaling of CPDs? Or two separate schoolers?

I'm thinking you're missing a top-swimmer - what happened to the pearl gourami idea? You're going with the rams as centerpiece?

I can't speak for embers, but neons & cpd's both are mid-bottom fish (as are the rams, if I'm not mistaken). My neons only come to the top if I'm feeding them after skipping a day (and they're really hungry).

I like the following two options, plus a top-swimmer (gourami/betta/a few killi)... I think the rams are too many lower-level fish:

10 neon tetras
10 CPDs
12 corydoras habrosus

or

14-16 neon tetras
12 corydoras habrosus

And if your tank is fully cycled, you do not need to add your stock slowly - your beneficial bacteria will be fully established to handle the bio-load.

IMO i think you should knock off one of the schools and bump up the size of the schools that you keep

Hmm... I think I would skip the embers or the CPD (or both, and do big schools of the neon and habrosus) Keep the neons and habrosus either way.

Fishycat, I understand what you're saying about top vs lower level swimmers.
I know NOTHING about killifish except that some only live a year.
Is there a non-annual one that you (or anyone else) would recommend in this tank? And are they best kept in pairs? schools? solo?

I do like Pearl Gourami an awful lot as well.

I have a single clown killifish in my 10 gallon. They are not annuals, I think live 2-3 years? They hug the top, but will swim around in other areas. They have this neat shiny spot on their head and pretty blue eyes. Mine eats flake, micro pellets, thawed daphnia & tubifex.

I'd get more, but the lfs that carries them only has males. They stay small, around 1.25"... I'd get more if I could mix them with females.

As you can see, my killi is a wooer of female Endlers... :naughty:

Oof, I may be opening a whole can of worms for you... but they're so pretty!

He's a friendly little guy... not camera shy at all.

Heh, the neons are in my 20g. The 10g has Endlers, cpd, habrosus & the killi. I do want to move out my Endlers and get more cpd!
