I found a good deal on a marine land 37g tank with a solid wood stand. I'm thinking about returning my 29g tank and getting the 37. If I keep the 29, I still would need a stand. What do you all think I should do?

is the 29 the one from your MTS post? If so, Marineland is much better than top fin IMO. The filters have more bio media and are quieter, unless top fin has gotten better in the last few years. If it fits in your fish budget, I'd go for it. If it doesn't, you could always find a cheap wrought iron stand for the 29.

If the marineland is the 30x12x22.5 I just googled, it looks neat. make sure your stocking takes advantage of the depth :thm:

I have a 37g Marineland, and really like it. Mine is the one with the filter built into the top, and it's really nice. For the most part, the difference in size between a 37 and 29 isn't too much, unless you have a tall fish like an angel fish. (I have one). But, typically bigger is always better. You will have more water volume, but you won't have a larger footprint, so longer fish won't be an option, but larger schools will be an option. If you can afford it, I would go with the 37g.

Yeah the 29 I have is the one I posted about in the mts thread. I haven't opened it yet. I have been looking for a stand. The stand I like at petsmart is the one that comes with the marine land 37 gal. I'm going to return the 29 and get the 37. The 37 doesn't come with a heater or filter. Is a 200 watt aqueon heater and fluval50 filter good for the 37?

The Fluval AquaClear 50 filter? It'll be alright for the 37g. Remember that more filtration is almost always better, and you may be able to get the FAC 70 online for the same price as the FAC 50 in the store if you're willing to wait. If you also buy the heater online, the shipping might be free. and one great thing about these filters is the fluval sponge filter intake covers at the store for $3 fit nicely onto the intake tube

ok I'll try to get the fac70. Will a 200 watt heater be good? What other equipment might I need? It comes with an led hood.

Yeah, they fit, but they suck. When using those, they'd get sucked in to the filter intake badly enough to virtually cut off all flow until taken off, and then replaced. I literally mean something like a 97-99% reduction in flow within 3 or 4 days. A better alternative is the Aquaclear 20 filter sponge blocks. Take one, cut one end much like you would a pizza, with cuts about as wide and as deep as the part of the intake you need to cover, and then place it over. After almost a year of fighting with the little prefilters 2 or 3 times a week (and I think I bought them for like $2 for a 3 pack on Amazon a while back), I'm glad I made the change. In the 3 months since I used the AC20 filter block the first time (well, it was an AC 50 filter block initially, that was given to me for some reason, but it's just so bulky in comparison), I have not had to worry about a noticeable flow reduction.

37g...a 200w will be more than enough, and your filtration should be at least twice the gallons in the tank.
