I have a spare 20 gallon tank and was thinking about setting it up to be a mainly tiger barb tank so i was wondering how many would be a good number too keep in the 20 and also if any other fish could go with them like sae or something??

well SAe can go with them i believe... but is it a 20 long or not? i think a twenty long is good for some maybe 6 like me but i think its actually pushin it on size cause they might need more room to swim... although mine seem to be doin fine i want to get a bigger tank to house them in... i would say 6-7 if its a 20 long... if not then im not sure you should go for it...

20g is pushing for SAE's. 6 tiger barbs may fit but a bigger tank is much better. You would be better off with cherry barbs.

I think you could easily have more barbs. I would get 3 new barbs every month, for 3 months. Make sure you have 3 males max in the tank.

A 20 gallon aquarium is way too small for tiger barbs IMO.

:iagree:

Cherry barbs would do well, however.

Even with it being a 20 long, it's too small for Tiger Barbs. They are one of the hardest to properly stock and stock around although they are great fish. Many other choices for that tank though! :)

BIO load-wise you can but about 10-12, but size-wise (IMO) only about 6. Tiger Barbs are real swimmers and really like a long tank (48"). They would look great in a 55 with a 20 fishes school.
