This is a magnificent fish. I was lucky enough to find somebody on the craigslist who was looking to rehome this fish, i ended up getting it for FREE! It is now living happier in my 180 gal...the guy i got it from was keeping it in a 90 gal. Anyway, ive been trying to do a little research on this specific breed of knifefish and its seems that these royal knifes are somewhat rare and it is practically unheard of to see them over 18" in an aquarium...well mine is just under 24"!!! It is definitely my new favorite fish. I was trying to look online to see what these fish normally sell for from live fish venders and LFS's but i cant find anybody who has any for sale and they say if they ever do get them in they are never larger than 6". So i was wondering, can anybody tell me what this fish is worth? cuz if he's worth big BIG money then im gonna get it it's own big tank...right now it is in with some cichlids and some natives (Pumpinseeds, LMB's). And exactly how rare are these fish?

Also, he gave me a fairly large Albino Pleco...it is about a foot long from tip of nose to tip of tail. I have never seen such a bizarre looking pleco...my gut tells me that this fish is rare as well. anybody know anything about albino plecos?

Just a reminder, these fish are NOT for sale, i am keeping both of them.

here are a couple pics of both fish and my tank.

Just to give u an idea of this fish's size, the LMB also in the picture is about 10" long.

Sorry about the crappy cellphone pics :duh:

It's certainly more rare than a normal CK, but you would be lucky if you got $100 for it. Large fish are harder to sell and the market is pretty well saturated with them.

I've seen royals over 20" on several occasions, but the price was never over $100.

Who cares what it's worth. It's an awesome fish that STILL deserves it's own big awesome tank:)

I can def see ur point. I think i will probably end up clearing a lot of stuff out of the tank and moving the native into an indoor pond that im almost finished building...the RCK will have pretty much the entire tank to itself.

Thanks for the response, happy new year!

That is an albino chocolate pleco.. I have 4 of them
they start to get more whitish as they age
$6.99 at walmart (for a baby one)

Ohhhh ok, ive seen the chocolate plecos before...i guess ive just never seen them this big before. ok so maybe albino plecos arent as rare as i though...but they definitely arent nearly as common as an ordinary everyday pleco. either way, its a cool fish.

LMBdave does this guy have any other tanks? I didn't see it on CL what did you type in? I live in Black Diamond just to let you know!

Im sorry, i wasnt clear. He actually responded to a ad i posted on CL about wanting some Monster Fish. But he does have some other tanks, he's got 2 90's and a 45 left...but i think he was saying he was going to keep them...im not sure. He also offered me a blind-in-one-eye albino oscar...but it was lookin pretty haggard so i respectfully declined.
