Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has any unique suggestions for what I could keep in a ~20 gallon tank. I have a good amount of experience (10+ years) keeping aquariums, mostly 55 gallons. I'm moving into a new place and want to start with a 20 gal tank until I can get my 55 moved in and set up.

Any thoughts besides the usual tetra/platy/molly suggestions?

Thanks!

I'd go for a SW angler tank.

For FW I'm currently enamoured with Corydorus Hastatus

Shellies +1. Seriously AWESOME, if not expensive (nah, they are), fish. Best, most angry fish I ever owned was a 29g with 3 boulenger's cichlids in it. My gods, the bites those things would give me.

Big difference IMO.

Wow those are cool little ones!
I have about 30 of them (Not gonna try to count) in a 30g tank

They are probably my only FW bucketlist fish, and now I have them.

Now for SW I just need more pompom crabs and cuttlefish.

Yellow shadow catfish are neat. I read about them in an article of tfh. They are uncommon, which is what you were going for, right?

A small school of Wimple piranha? Not a true piranha and not very dangerous.
