Ever have a bad water change day

Today my water treatment system was not up to par but I forgot to check before I started my WC but still needed to do one so I proceeded.

Preoccupied with working on the water softener I completely forgot to check on the draining of my 80 tank, only to find I had forgotten to unplug the heater, the AC filter, and the power head, all rattling away and the heater giving off that faint aquarium burnt soup smell.

Starting the fill up I went back to work on the softener and came back to check on the tank filling only to find the fill up hose had popped off its mount and was pouring water on the drywall as if it needed it. While cleaning up the wet floors I carefully monitored my 80 tank fill and then switch the fill up hose over to the other 80 tank which was already drained previously.

Again back to cleaning the floor lost track of time and noticed that I wasn't making progress cleaning up the water where I had just finished. Just then I looked up from the floor and I could see the leading edge of a majestic waterfall cresting over my Koi 80 tank. No time to shut the water off I ran through the house with a running hose past the wife with her mouth now agape, this while my pizza I had forgot to remove from the toaster oven was now burnt .

Finishing up now on the 100 and 244 tanks with hopefully no more goofs and hopefully my entire share through the next year.

That's a bummer, dude. Sorry. But a good story! Good luck with the cleanup.

:jaw: that sucks, hope the other tanks go better!

hahaha. I drain 4 tanks at once and refill multiple at a time. i am always overdraining/overflowing/having hoses pop out from where they are not supposed to. Luckily i have concrete floors and floor drain, lol. Sorry to hear you had a rough time of it

Dont feel bad...

Mine is piped into the drain and I have a pump that fills the tank from a water storage tank in the basement. All I do is open a valve to drain, and another to fill..

I was in the middle of a W/C and got distracted.
About 10 minutes I weas curious about this shoud I was hearing, and realized that I had overfilled the 125. It was overflowing onto the carpet, and down into the basement.

I treid to make it idiot proof, and still messed it up!

Rough luck!

Good greif!
