Nano filter for Betta tank?

I have one, and I am actually currently using it. It is great. Quiet, yet pretty powerful for it's size. The inserts are cheap as well.

One thing that is bad for bettas is the amount of flow it gives off. It can give off a ton of flow if the water level is at the right height, and since I have a relatively old betta (coming up on 3 years soon), it bothers me. However, it can also give off not a lot of flow depending on the water level and what is in the tank. Lol. I rarely have problems with the latter, but the first does happen sometimes.

Overall, I would recommend it.

I loved it.

Some tips:

  • Buy extra bio-media.
  • Don't replace the sponge unless it is falling apart.
  • The filter will leak a tiny bit through the overflows into the tank but not very much.

The flow is also adjustable.

I guess it would depend on surface area of the tank. Would not recommend this filter on tall, small surface area, tank for Betta.
Betta is found standing water as in rice paddies. Strong current is not a good idea in reference to their longevity. Plus, not a good filter to use if wants to breed. Even turned down flow can disturb bubble nests. In large surface area tank (10G or larger), why not, depending on where you position the filter?

I have 2 (in 2.5g tanks). don't worry about the flow. your betta will get in shape soon enough. plants/decor in the tank should provide him enough refuge to rest in. one of my females purposefully swims against the flow of a much stronger filter. would not hesitate to buy another of these filters
