just how much pleco's poop until I gave them their own tank! lol

My pair of BN's have started spawning. Unfortunately, their first clutch of eggs weren't fertile, but I have read that once they start spawning, they don't stop. So I decided to take the pair out of my community tank and give them their own tank.
In my community tank I have black gravel so I didn't really notice the excessive amount of waste that these two produced. But in their new tank I decided to use playsand (which they seem to love) but OMG! I am having to vac the sand pretty much daily just to keep it somewhat presentable since it all just sits on top of the sand now. And since the sand is light colored, it's very noticeable.

Maybe I should have went with black sand! lol

heh that's sh*tty...

lol. Good luck with the spawning. :) Large plecos are especially notorious for that but BN's are almost as bad.

Yeah, it's bad. My old Clown Pleco was a monster for his size.

And don't even get me started on 8"+ common plecos...

My two BN's are only 4" or so and seeing what they can produce, I can't even imagine having a common pleco or any type of larger species.

Well at least I can say that their water stays pretty pristine with daily sand vacs and waterchanges. Should be good for breeding lol

Your tellin me!!! My Pleco(5 inches) sh*ts more than my 8 inch Oscar!!! :yuck:

What a BIG load of crap! lol
And the tank was just vac'd last night.. again! Really, it's just rediculous the amount of waste they can produce. lol
