Hey everyone,

I'm a newbie, as you all can plainly see, haha. Recently found my way back into aquariums, now that I have some spare time. I currently have two on the go on my desk. Simple 2.5gs with a single betta in each.

A friend of mine tossed a 10g my way the other day for pretty cheap that they'd never used. Included everything but the bulbs and a heater. I have it set up and I'm currently researching the wonders of fishless cycling. But, I'm not quite sure what to do with it at this point.

I was thinking of keeping a few mystery snails, since they're quite delightful to watch. Possibly some cherry shrimp and possibly do something with plants (granted I can figure out how to properly light the tank...). But like I said, I'm pretty new to this whole aquarium thing and certainly don't want to pair together any critters that will just cause problems.

Since I have bettas, I'm looking for some more generic critters. Any recommendations for a total newbie?

:help:

How about 1 honey dwarf gourami, 5 albino corydoras, 3 cherry shrimp, and 1 mystery snail?
I think [that] + good filtration would be a pretty fun tank. :)

How about 1 honey dwarf gourami, ...

:welcome::newbie: Congrats on deciding to start another aquarium!!!!

(Personally I am on my 3rd, including one of those 2.5gs with a betta)

Good luck if you decide to get a gourami. I have found out the hard way that they are very delicate. The blue one I have left I am hoping will live with Maracyn 2 treatment. I have found zebra danios to be very hardy, very active fish. Other hardy fish I have/had are tetras: bleeding heart, white cloud or pristella .
