How would one go about determining the prices to sell fish at?

for example

yellow labs or electric blue haps?

sizes ranging from full grown to fry...

depends on how many you have, and how many are on the market now, african cichlids can be very easy to breed, and they have great coloring, so there are a lot of them around.

i would say about 3-4 dollars for young adults and around 5-10 dollars for mid adults to adults.

you may want some one with more experince to help you out tho.

Check lfs's around you, and drop your price by a few bucks per fish to keep it competitive (sellers also use the discount trick when selling in bulk, like 1 for $3 and 5 for $12, as an example, and I personally prefer bulk sales, you avoid having a bunch of folks you don't know coming over your house just to buy one fish), also check what local breeders are selling them for.

At least in my area the wholesale price of a fish is generally 1/3 of what it sells for retail. Don't expect more than that if you're selling to an LFS and most likely that amount will be in store credit.

Are you shipping or selling locally?

If local, I would drop a bit below average retail price in the area.

If not, you'll have to go cheap because once you factor in shipping people are not going to buy a fish that is pretty common at their own local stores.

Thanks alot, I was just planning on selling locally, nothing serious at all really...

Just mainly curious too see if it was worth it to sell them, or if I should just use the fry as snacks for the larger fish

Just undercut or match the lowest price of your surrounding LFS's. A lot of people will buy home-bred at the same price as mass-bred/caught for healthier stock.
