Hey everyone I was wondering if a 37g tank is big enough to house cichlids? I notice that alot require a 50g tank so I didn't know if there were other species.

theres a lot of options...

Dwarf cichlids from south america (blue rams, bolivian rams, apistogramma species, etc.)
Kribs
Lake tanganyikan...shell dwellers, julidochromis, calvus, etc.

Depends on what you like.

Well I'm looking for some colorful fish. The debate is either having a planted tank or a cichlid tank.

Does anyone have a good site or place to get info on the care for cichlids and everything? I don't really know much about these fish and I don't know what exactly you need for these fish, also weather there good with other fish species and if plants are ok with them and what not.

You can have both if you go with dwarf cichlids.Apistos are very colorful.

Larger cichlids and plants don't go well together but south american dwarf species of cichlids will be fine in a planted community tank.
