ummm, well its kinda weird but could be really cool too. i have two jewel cichlids in my 14 gallon tank. today, my girl was so happy when she noticed what she thinks are eggs on the quick filter attachment for the aquaclear powerhead in the tank.

its like a whole bunch of white bubbles on the black plastic. some bubbles are white and others are clear ( i can see through them to the black plastic).
i also see the two jewels staking out the side of tank where the bubbles are.

my girl says its really good sign as the fish are happy in the environment and the tank is doing awesome.

i guess its cool that nature happened that way, IF they are in fact eggs.
i turned the powerhead off anyway.
so are they eggs or something else?

what should i do when they hatch?

the other fish in the tank are a pleco and a convict cichlid. the jewels are dong really good too.

another question is that one of the jewels, a big one, was all turquoise and now in the last two weeks or so has turned mostly red, like the smaller one.

now the eggs.

is this normal for jewels?

thanks!!

well, the thread title is an attention getter! LOL

well if i get more than ten replies i'll be shocked. this is a backwater alley of aquaria central.

it don't matter though. the eggs were laid on the filter and the sperm got sucked up into the filter poly fill. so they are unfertilized. poor fish.
