Senior Member? Do I get a 5% disc.?
I've seen them do it for days and days, even weeks in my ponds but it wasn't always the same fish so it's hard to say. If the female is egg-bound and doesn't drop the eggs, the males might continue to harass her until she does... or until you separate them. In my 65G aquarium, in six years, I've only seen breeding attempts a couple of times and only once did the female scatter eggs. Of course, I take steps to discourage the activity by keeping water temps stable year round and I vacuumed up the eggs as soon as I saw them since I don't have room for a bunch of baby goldfish... do you?
If you don't, you should separate them... for the female goldfish's sake and your own.
