Would this be a good combination of fish for my 10 gallon?

Okay, so right now my tank has been running for months now with...

1 female guppy
2 male guppies
3 Neon tetras
1 Chinese algae eater

it is fairly planted and has a few decorations.

I have a heater and everything is doing well.

Would it be fine if I added:

2 male platies
1 female platy

I've been researching about platies and how they breed like guppies and I wanted to add them to my fish tank.

according to http://www.aqadvisor.com You already have trouble.

Suggestion: If you want to keep more than 1 Guppy, minimum recommend male to female ratio is 1:2 (M:F). You will be less likely to experience problem if you get even more females.
Warning: Chinese Algae Eater is too aggressive to co-exist with Neon Tetra.
Note: Chinese Algae Eater will become incredibly aggressive and destructive when they become adults.
Warning: Chinese Algae Eater is not recommended for your tank - it may eventually outgrow your tank space, potentially reaching up to 11 inches.
Warning: At least 5 x Neon Tetra are recommended in a group.

Warning: Your selected species may eventually require 302% of your aquarium space. You may need to deal with territorial aggressions later on. Try removing some of (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri) or get a larger tank.

Recommended water change schedule: 65% per week. (You might want to split this water change schedule to two separate 40% per week)
Your aquarium stocking level is 167%.
Your tank is overstocked. Unless you are an experienced aquarist who can meet the maintenance/biological needs of this aquarium, lower stocking levels are recommended.

I'd dump the CAE also, the only thing they are good at as adults is eating other fish :P

That 1 female guppy/2 male guppy will likely turn into 20 guppys and so on and so forth, but personally I would move the female and then put in a small school of dwarf corydoras.

I would go with ONLY male guppies since mating will only severely overstock your tank really quickly. BUT.. if you insist on having mating guppies, then you should have 1 male with at least 2 females for each male or the males will harass and breed her to death.

Others have already said the CAE gets too large and isn't really a good long-term algae eater. If you want an algae eater for a 10G, a single Clown Pleco (grows to around 3.5") and not as wide bodied as some other plecos, would work. Some follks like a school of Otos but that would put a bigger bioload burden on the tank than a single clown pleco.

I have a whole list of 10G stocking suggestion on my blog if you want to read a LOT more suggestions.

reading your suggestions on your blog right now. thanks for the info guys!
