I'm Worried

Okay the water was at 8.3pH still high but not nearly as horrifying as the first test...He's Much more active now and I've been doing 50% WC a day until his fins grow back

The pH is fine. I wouldn't worry about it as many fish (including Bettas) can adapt quite well to both a pH that is "not optimal" and swings/changes in pH.

The water changes are a good idea.

So I found out what caused the lathargy...I Acidentaly un-plugged his heater while moving furniture:duh:Back to his normal active self and the 50% have already helped to grow back his fins (along with some Melafix-I know of the debate-)

Thank you all for the input I'll post pics with updates when he gets fully recovered

I really hate to type this as this morning I found my little buddy did not greet me :( I looked around the tank and found him laying on the bottom dead :cry: He ate last night just fine and was plenty active hours before....I'm hoping that I can find someone to take his seat but it will never be filled the same way:cry:.....

I thank all of you for your condolences and advice you have given me as this forum has helped me to learn THE REAL way to keep Betta splendens:headbang2:

I'm so sorry to hear that, it's tough when our little buddies pass. I hope you find another that you will love just as much.
