Hypothetical New Tank

Well, I ultimately ended up getting a 75. Of the available Craigslist options, it had the most accessories for the money, and I'm a.) picky (I wanted that color, with a canopy, and preferably a canister filter included) and b.) impatient (no time to wait for a decent deal on a 90 that met the above criteria). Though the extra 15 gallons would have been nice, the 75 is a good height for me. With the canopy removed, I can reach into most areas of the tank without having to get a chair or stand on my head.

Anyway, here's a picture:

I'm pretty pleased overall with the aquascaping, especially since that was pretty much my first attempt. It rarely works out for me the first time I try to design, so I was pleasantly surprised this time. Suggestions and critiques are welcome though.

I've got 6 clown labs, 6 hongi (I actually had the chance to see adult females at a not-so-local FS and they're not bad at all... kind of dark purple with orange fins), and 6 msobos coming in a week from LiveFishDirect, and I have a PM in to DrgRcr for aceis. I'm, of course, very excited!

PM Replied!

I think your fish will be pleased with that setup. The Acei will be more than happy to fill the upper areas in their new home sometime next week!

Very nice looking tank!

I think I won't be sleeping at all next Tuesday night. I have the hongi, msobos, and clown labs from LiveFishDirect and the acei from DrgRcr arriving on Wednesday. Fortunately, both shipping options are "before noon," so I shouldn't have to wait all day. The aceis are going to my parents' house (they're 3 miles away, yet they get 1-day-quicker USPS express service than I do... go figure), and everything else is coming to my place. I can't decide if I should sit by the phone, calling my parents every 20 minutes, or sit on the stoop outside and wait for FedEx. Ah, the miracle of cell phones, I can do both. ;)

My excitement did lead me to do something a little bad, however. I picked up some hara at the LFS. They're just not a fish I see very often, and I didn't want to regret not getting them. All the fish I'm getting are small (2" max), so I should be okay temporarily. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping that I'll get lucky and be able to keep all 5 species long-term, but in the more likely event that I have issues, I have an empty 50 gallon ready to go at a moment's notice if needed.

Now, Wednesday just needs to get here in a hurry so I can get the rest of my fish!!
