So I ordered from liveaquaria for the first time, some cardinals and a rio negro pleco. Both bags have blue water, and I'm not familiar with any conditioner that makes this color. Do they add an anxiolytic/ mild anasthetic to the water or is it medication? Couldn't find answer on the web.

I can't remember the correct chemical but I believe it is the same thing as betta buddies? Those tablets that turn the water blue and relieve stress and ward off fungus while transporting.

all those conditioners and stress coat products sound like absolute antiquated rubbish, with the likes of products like "cycle"

actually many of the product do in fact work.

some will add chemicals to lock ammonia. some of the pro's use the products and the water is often blue in color.

other products which have been called bunk like some of the cycling products do actually work.

product like cycle and stable do add beneficial bacteria.. but the bacteria may be in hibernation and need time to regenerate. other products do in fact add live bacteria(usually refrigerated) .
these product have proved to shorten the cycling process. some by days others by weeks.

I use bag buddies which turn the water blue and I have also read that some use methylene blue in shipping bags. It is supposed to help w/O2 uptake and inhibit fungus - never tried it myself. I would guess if the water was a dark blue it was treated w/ methylene blue, not bag buddies - they tend to turn the water a lighter blue
