So this morning I was moving my rock cave out of my 55 gal to do my gravel vac and water change this morning when I noticed what looked like salt on one of the rocks. Upon closer inspection it was eggs that my blood parrots had laid over night. I had noticed they had dug the gravel in the cave a little deeper yesterday but had no idea if I even had a male and a female let alone that they were getting ready to lay eggs. Obviously the chances are that they'll be infertile but I can always hope. They are both protecting the eggs well like good parents with the female rarely leaving the cave. I'll keep everyone updated...

They looked white this morning when I briefly moved the rock they were on. It's hard to tell now though because they are in a shady spot in the rock cave.

Good luck! I don't know much about blood parrots but they are defiantly cool looking fish. Got any pictures?

congrads fingers crossed for bunches of babies!!!

I had two larger BP in my 120 years ago. They would lay eggs every month or so, but have never had them hatch.

Good-Luck

I believe male red blood parrots are sterile.
