This is a really neat picture my fiance took of a starfish hitchhiker in our tank. It's gray/black on the top side. I think it's an Asterina. Just thought I would share the pic.

They are Asternia. The multiply like rabbits. At first you only see a couple then there is a population explosion. Last night I took out at least 150 from my 125. The back wall is always full of them, and then I take the net and wipe the back wall. I have to say they are fascinating because they will take all manner of different shapes. I have gotten a couple that are dime size, but most are much smaller.

i have three of these in my tank in a baby fish net. ive had them for about 4 months if not more and they dont grow. is this normal? are they a different kind of starfish?

I would buy that off of you if I had a big enough tank. How big would it need?
