Help me stock my pico/have some questions

Plants for the pico. I think you should be ok with the lighting you have for these although the growth may not be as explosive. Which is a good thing from a maintenance stand point. I also think you could live off of excel with such a small tank buy it by the liter if you don't want to mess with other forms of Co2. Dry ferts will give you the most bang for your buck R/o with equalibrium, csm+b, kno3, and K2SO4.
Anubias barteri v. nana 'petite'
Lobelia cardinalis dwarf
Hemianthus callitrichoides
Hemianthus micranthemoides
Taxiphyllum sp (Flame Moss)

My .02 hope it helps.

Thanks, will research those. Really only other question now is, to figure out if sand is acceptable, or just to buy fluorite substrate...as i know sand has no nutrients, but wondering if the dosing is enough.

Also for future reference, i should most likely consider my tank medium light?

Another substrate to consider Eco-Complete, I've tried both got better results with Eco-complete. They both now come in black which IMO has a better contrast in a planted tank.

Another plant I forgot Eleocharis parvula (dwarf hairgrass)

Yeah, I will just have to see what the stores have, im having a surprisingly hard time tracking down aquatic soil at all at the local hardware, and some of the fish stores, hopefully one of the fish stores i havent been to yet have it.

I know you were talking about sand as a substrate. i am just using bulk sand that you get from lowes in my planted tank. It is medium grain blasting sand. My plants grow just fine in it. Growth would be much better with an eco-complete substrate but the root tabs would ensure that your plants get the extra nutrients.
