My wild discus

wilds

very nice great to see the wilds dont here enough about them would love to have some fry...

Two of them are kind of changing the colouring from barred to pale with drasticly sparkling red eyes. This usually happens after the feedings. An alpha specimen is dominating the "table". After a few weeks another joined and resisted the preassures from the Alpha. Both chase and bully other discus. After a while they all calm down and get common colourings, continuing the life as it was before the feeding. :-)
Nice group of fish living together. The Cattapa leaves are almost there so I am hoping for an even more Amazonlike resemblances.

One interesting notice was thier first reaction to the cleaning magnets.
The wilderness was a moment to enjoy.... I just slowly started to move the magnets in intention to clean the front and they grouped in an amazing halfcircle. Suddenly darkening and taking a position as a bull before he charges. Faces kind a faced down but looking in the magnet direction. To them it was an USO (Unidentified Swiming object). I have never before seen such a disus behaviour in no hybreds.

All the best and thanks for your comments.

P.S. Has anyone had any experiance with Discus and freshwatter stingrays?
Been thinking about it.

Hi, the temp. is 30 degrees C.

and yes you can all keep discus in a planted tank. Why not?
Providing you take a good care and regular wc.

Don't overfeed, feed few times a day but not too much.

I had a misfortunate experience with discus and stingrays. It was my fault- but there just wasn't enough ground space for the Ray. And the gravel wasn't quite right.
They do come from similar waters. So they should be okay. I'd seen it at a fish store- but who knows how long that tank had been up (or lasted) I'd think a HUGE tank would be the main ticket. And how awesome would that be- Discus schooling in mid-water while the rays prowled below!

I apprechiate your experiance mate. I ve seen those rays growing about 50cm in diameter in public aquariums. It would really be a selfish move to pack them in unapropriate conditions ( a lot of ground space and suitable sugarfine sand to burry).

I've also seen motoro stingrays in a barebottom tank the size of a small swiningpool.

Sokoly

Beaaautiful fish, Sokoly. I think your tank is just beautiful! And yes, you can most certainly keep adult discus in a planted aquarium as long as you keep up with the water changes. Absolutely stunning visuals and I just love the Wild Discus + Cardinal Tetras combo + Siamese Algae Eaters combo. May I ask how big this tank is? Great work with the tank. Superb! :)

And P.S. I liked your music in video one. Very funky. ;)
